An image of a hoarding showing Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Aditya Thackeray in Urdu reading 'Salaam Worli' is being shared on social media with a claim that the party is trying to appease the Muslim community.
A Twitter user name @KreatelyMedia share a post with the caption "What is this relationship called?"
BJP National Media Panelist and Lawyer Charu Pragya also tweeted this picture with a caption, "From Saffron to Green. From Marathi to Urdu. From Shiv Sena to..."
In our investigation, we found that Aaditya Thackeray's hoardings were put up in different languages ahead of the Maharashtra elections in 2019.
After doing reverse image research on google, we found a news report of India Today in which the same image can be seen. According to the report published on October 2, 2019, the Junior Thackeray is contesting from the Worli constituency. Several posters of Aditya Thackeray have been put up in the constituency but in different languages. The posters are just not in Marathi but in English, Hindi, Gujarati, several south Indian languages, and Urdu as well.
Aditya Thackeray had contested the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections from the Worli constituency and won.
In the image, the English poster reads, "Hello Worli", the Gujarati one says, "Kem Cho Worli", while the most eye-catching reads "Salaam Worli" in Urdu.
News agency ANI also tweeted these pictures of posters on 2 October 2019. In the tweet, the viral picture and posters written in different languages can be seen.
We also found a news report of News18 article published on 3 October 2019 that carried images of similar hoardings put up in different languages such as Gujarati, Marathi, Teague was also placed by Shiv Sena in the Worli area.
In conclusion, we found that the viral image is from October 2019, when Shiv Sena had put up Aaditya Thackeray's hoardings in different languages ahead of the Maharashtra elections in 2019.
